That, oddly, brings us to his purchase of this copy of a current gynecological textbook. Because in this, his personal copy (see signature with 1924 purchase date), Hausmann has added marginalia relating to his treatment for gonorrhea, bracketing and numbering the various articles throughout the book dealing with that particular STD.
This means that the Revenant Archive now holds the document necessary for SOMEBODY to write up a little monograph and become the World-Expert on Raoul Hausmann's Venereal Diseases. Talk about an illustrious niche in Dada scholarship! Any German-speaking volunteers...?????!!!!!! Get in touch!

Raoul Hausmann was one of the motivating forces in Berlin Dada, and a key figure in the development of phonetic and lettristic poetry and collage. Known within the group as The Dadasopher, he was the principle theorist of the Berlin group, a committed anti-fascist activist, close collaborator of Kurt Schwitters, and one-time lover of Hannah Höch. Their relationship, which reveals the serious flaws in Hausmann's personality, ended two years before he bought this book due to his controlling and possibly abusive behaviour; in its wake, Hausmann fell into depression and began making recourse to a string of prostitutes.
